Following on from the bike photo shoot last week, the next element was the photo shoot for the swimming discipline of the triathlon. Although front crawl is the main stroke used for this stage of the triathlon I wanted to capture the majesty of the butterfly swim stroke. Ryan, once again was a total legend during the photo shoot – a huge thanks to him.
The monochrome images are incredibly powerful and work perfectly to show off the butterfly stroke. My personal favourite is the reflection shot, the slight blur in the hands give the sense of movement in the photo. Its great working with an athlete who allows me to get really creative with my work. This was all set up, shot and packed up in 90 mins.
Setup: Canon 5d Mark 3, lens: 24-70mm f2.8 and 70-200mm f2.8, 430ex III set up on a lighting stand with umbrella for off camera flash and trigger system.
I am looking for other sports men and women to work with – please contact me if you are interested / need portrait photos taken; email: claire@clairehalasphotography.com
