6 minutes to be a hero
13 bouts, 26 boxers;
it’s London v Rest of the World
from the LWCBA
A great White Collar Boxing event from the LWCBA team, raising money for Haven House Charity. The LWCBA teamed up with Gleason’s Gym in New York, boxers from both sides of the pond going toe to toe. There were also a number of other boxers from Europe entertaining the crowd. A huge amount of respect to all the boxers tonight, 6 minutes in the ring is hard work.
Like all the boxing matches I have covered, my job to the document all the action and atmosphere from the night. I love the build up and anticipation from the crowd. When the first two boxers enter the ring you can feel the excitement build. I am ringside the whole night, I like to shoot from low and high to get different perspectives of the fights. Shooting with my Canon 1DX Mark II, 24-70mm, f2.8 lens (mainly) I am shooting with relatively high ISOs to combat the lighting conditions. I like to get a sense of speed and movement in my shots, the shot where you see the punch land smack on the nose is a great shot. Or the full reach of the jab.
Some shots from a great night – congratulations to all the winners – you are 6 minute heroes.
Looking forward to the next event on 23 June 2017. For more information have a look at the LWCBA website.
