Studio lighting is an exciting creative style of photography which I am using more and more. I am like a kid in a sweet shop, setting up my studio lights. My model today was the fabulous Julie, who wore an amazing red dress which was fabulous to use as such a bold colour for the portrait shoot.

I use the Elinchrom D-Lite 4 studio lights with the sky port trigger. These are the first lights I have ever owned and I have been able to pick up quite quickly how to use them, using different set ups I have been able to control the light to how I want. I have never been one for following the rules closely, I use the lights to help replicate what I have in my mind.

Behind the scenes
Set up for most of these shots, master light, either a white or black reflector for the fill and a hair light. I don’t do much on post processing, for which I use Lightroom mainly.
